Part 2: The Night Everything Changed
People often think suicide attempts happen because of one bad day or one sudden crisis. For me, it wasnât one thing â it was many things over time. Moving to Texas, losing my home and business, being diagnosed with a brain tumor, feeling alone and unsupported, and one last broken promise from someone I trusted â all of it built up until I couldnât carry it anymore.
In 2011, I reached my breaking point and tried to end my life. I survived â but the tragedy of that night wasnât just what I went through. It was also the pain it caused my son. He had been my anchor through everything, and my attempt put a strain on our relationship that took time to heal.
Looking back now, I see how these experiences â and the losses Iâve endured since â shaped my mission. My grandfather and my brother both died by suicide. Shortly before opening my store, I lost a dear friend the same way. These moments have made it impossible for me to stay silent.
I share my story because Iâve learned that the people who seem like they have it all together often donât. Everyone is carrying something. And sometimes, just knowing youâre not alone can save a life.
This is only a small part of my journey. In my upcoming book, Iâll share more about what happened next â the healing, the rebuilding, and how these experiences led to the creation of 7 Semicolon Couture, and my mission to honor those weâve lost while inspiring hope for those still here.
